Vanessa Campbell is the Senior Manager of Clinical Pharmacy at UPMC Health Plan. She oversees their clinical care management and pharmacy quality strategies. She leads a team of clinical pharmacists that outreach to members through a variety of modalities and is also Board Certified in Geriatrics.

Executive Fellow, PQA
Alexis Caronis is PQA’s ninth executive fellow. Alexis graduated with her PharmD from the University of South Carolina College of Pharmacy in 2021. During her time at PQA Alexis has been involved with many of our educational initiatives including the Medication Use Quality CE program, student programs and the SDOH Resource Guide. Alexis has overseen the identification and documentation of initiatives, as well as the design and launch of the SDOH Resource Guide. Alexis’ professional interests include professional education, transforming research into value propositions, and enhancing the amount and utilization of pharmacy services across the healthcare system.

 

Lauren DixonLaurin Dixon, PharmD
Lead Executive of Medicare Products, Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield
Laurin Dixon is the Lead Executive, Medicare Products at Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield. In this role, she has day-to-day responsibility for all aspects of Medicare, including Medicare Advantage, Prescription Drug Plan, and Supplement. This includes accountability for strategic direction in product administration/operations, network development, revenue optimization, value-based contracting, risk adjustment, vendor management, pharmacy and medical trend results, and clinical quality/Stars. Laurin previously held Director roles in Medicare Stars and Pharmacy Quality at ARBCBS and Humana. She completed an Executive Fellowship at the Pharmacy Quality Alliance after earning her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Mississippi.

 


Donna DuganDonna Dugan, PhD, MS

Donna Dugan is a Vice President at Discern Health where she leads client projects, providing insight on quality measurement, health policy, and health services research topics, and strategic advice on how to achieve success within the value-based marketplace. Donna has been instrumental in presenting on quality measurement and value-based purchasing topics to a wide variety of audiences across the healthcare system. Prior to Discern, she was an independent consultant, working on quality related projects for organizations such as NCQA, NQF, and PQA. Donna also served as Director of Performance Measurement at NCQA, where she led the unit that develops and implements HEDIS® measures. 

 

Jon EasterJon Easter, BS, Pharm
Professor, University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill 
Jon Easter is a Professor of the Practice in the Division of Practice Advancement and Clinical Education. Jon also directs the U.S. Healthcare course in the PharmD curriculum at UNC, and leads the pharmacy practice section within the global PharmAlliance collaboration. Previously, Jon spent 20 years at GlaxoSmithKline, where he primarily worked in health policy. Jon has a B.S. in Pharmacy from the University of Georgia and is a registered pharmacist.

Ross Frei oversees the CMR product for OutcomesMTM. He focuses on examining every aspect of the CMR service and accompanying MTM programs to create optimal outcomes for health plans, pharmacists and patients. Ross brings his years of MTM experience and passion for patient care and the role of technology to further enhance the healthcare ecosystem.

 

Kylee FunkKylee Funk, PharmD, BCPS
Associate Professor, University of Minnesota
Kylee Funk is an associate professor at the University of Minnesota College of Pharmacy. As a clinical faculty member, she provides comprehensive medication management (CMM) in a primary care clinic in Minneapolis.  Dr. Funk's research focuses on delivery of CMM and CMM’s impacts on the quadruple aim.  Most recently, Dr. Funk led a project aiming to investigate how best to incorporate social determinants of health into the practice of CMM. 

 

Anna Hall

Anna Hall is an experienced clinical pharmacist and a pioneer in building MTM and quality measure intervention programs with prominent national health plan sponsors.  At EMS, Anna oversees strategic partnerships, contracting of clinical services, and program compliance. Over the past 10 years she has worked to develop interactive training programs teaching technicians and pharmacists how to engage patients in medication therapy management and encourage adherence through the provision of multi-modal interventions and motivational interviewing. 

 

Brandon Hardin

Brandon Hardin, PharmD, MBA, CSP
Director, Clinical Services, Trellis Rx
Brandon Hardin is the Director of Clinical Services for Trellis Rx. He is responsible for clinical protocol development, outcomes research, clinical goal execution and training across the organization. Prior to joining Trellis Rx, Brandon was a clinical pharmacist at Cleveland Clinic Foundation, primarily servicing migraine patients from the Headache Center. He also previously served as Manager of Clinical Programs at Gentry Health Services, an independent specialty pharmacy in suburban Cleveland. Brandon is a member of the National Association of Specialty Pharmacy and serves on their clinical outcomes committee. He is also a member of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists.

 

Laly HavernLaly Havern
Director, Specialty Health Solutions, Walgreens
Laly Havern is a director on the Specialty Health Solutions team at Walgreens, where she leads the strategy for specialty clinical products and services in oncology and fertility. Her previous roles include 11 years as a community specialty practitioner focusing on patients living with HIV, cancer, and cystic fibrosis and 4 years at Walgreens Office of Clinical Integrity conducting evidence-based clinical reviews and establishing clinical programs to address the needs of patients, providers, and partners.  Her passion lies in surrounding patients with support through their health journey and improving clinical outcomes. She holds a doctorate in pharmacy from Duquesne University, is board-certified in ambulatory care, and recently completed a Master of Science in Pharmacogenomics from the University of Florida.

 

Sharon JhawarSharon Jhawar, PharmD, MBA, BCGP
Chief Pharmacy Officer, SCAN Health Plan
As Chief Pharmacy Officer, Sharon Jhawar optimizes prescription benefits and clinical programs for SCAN Health Plan. She provides direction on the development of innovative, pharmacy care programs that ensure safe and appropriate member medication use, and manages contracting, oversight and compliance of pharmacy benefit manager (PBM) operations. Sharon works cross-functionally to help drive SCAN’s overarching organizational goals of: person-centered quality care; growth and retention; operational excellence, strong CMS Star ratings; and positive member experience. For more than 18 years, Sharon has served as a key organizational voice influencing Medicare policy. Her passion for ensuring seniors have access to the right medication at the right time, at an affordable cost, continues to drive SCAN’s mission to keep seniors healthy and independent. Sharon completed a geriatric residency program at the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System, Sepulveda division. She holds a doctorate in pharmacy from the University of Southern California and a master of business administration from the Paul Merage School of Business at the University of California, Irvine. She is a board-certified geriatric pharmacist and a certified healthcare insurance executive.

 

Clifford JonesClifford Jones

Clifford has been driving the use of AI in patient engagement and outcome optimization for nearly a decade. Clifford built AllazoHealth's industry-leading AI engine which has won multiple awards and whose impact has been validated through peer reviewed studies. Clifford founded AllazoHealth and has transitioned to the CTO role.  Before AllazoHealth, Clifford developed CVS Health's award-winning medication adherence program. Earlier in his career, Clifford led the development of analytics software for Boston Consulting Group's health care practice.  Clifford graduated from the University of Pennsylvania dual-degree Management & Technology. He entered the Wharton Health Care Management MBA program, but left to start AllazoHealth. 

 

Brett KayBrett Kay, MPP

Brett helps build and support quality metric and value-based solutions and directs the development of a quality strategy in alignment with current policy and brand strategy across various Janssen Therapeutic Areas, including infectious diseases and vaccines. Previously, Brett held various management roles at the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) over a 15-year period, focused on assessing and measuring quality at the provider and health plan levels. Brett has a Master’s Degree in Public Policy from The Johns Hopkins University and Bachelor’s Degree from Brandeis University.

Heather KirkhamHeather Kirkham, PhD, MPH

Heather Kirkham is a Director of Health Analytics, Research & Reporting at Walgreens. She oversees research and reporting to measure and articulate the value of Walgreen programs and services supporting specialty medications or health system partnerships. Kirkham's research interests include specialty medications, pharmacy and disease management programs, hospital readmissions, immunizations, diabetic complications, administrative data analyses, continuity of care, and application of the social-ecological model. Heather holds a doctorate in public health epidemiology from Walden University and a Master of Public Health in community-oriented primary care from George Washington University.

 

Dean Koskinas

Dean Koskinas, PharmD

Dean Koskinas is a clinical pharmacist who has focused his career on designing and overseeing medication therapy management and quality intervention program operations. He has directly managed teams of pharmacists to deliver high volume, performance driving programs for large health plan clients. Dean is a subject matter expert in intervention execution and Medicare program requirements that impact the delivery of MTM and quality services.  He is an expert in overcoming barriers to member and provider clinical service engagement. Dean has trained hundreds of pharmacists and technicians in motivational interviewing and overcoming resistance to participation in services.

 

Chris Kotschevar Christopher Kotschevar, PharmD, RPh, CPHQ
Associate Director of Stakeholder Engagement, PQA
Christopher Kotschevar is the Associate Director of Stakeholder Engagement for the Pharmacy Quality Alliance. Kotschevar develops and maintains relationships with PQA’s diverse stakeholders and seeks to connect members with opportunities to work together in order to improve medication use quality. He also oversees PQA public affairs strategy to broaden awareness of PQA’s expertise in medication use quality.

Prior to this role, Kotschevar completed a post-graduate Executive Fellowship with the Pharmacy Quality Alliance, focusing his work on growing PQA’s educational offerings in medication use quality and leading research examining barriers and facilitators of specialty pharmacy prescription turnaround time.

 

Courtney McMahon

Courtney McMahon, PharmD, BCACP

Courtney McMahon joined PerformRx July 2016, to work with the Clinical Outcomes & Therapeutic Optimization department. Courtney received her PharmD from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy at University of the Sciences and then completed a PGY-1 in Hospital Pharmacy Practice at Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia. She is a board certified ambulatory care pharmacist and also has a Medication Therapy Management (MTM) certification. In her current role as supervisor she oversees a team pharmacists and manages multiple clinical programs within the department. Courtney also serves as a preceptor for residents, APPE students and IPPE students at PerformRx.

 

Brendon Ohara

Brenden O'Hara graduated from Albany College of Pharmacy. After graduation he began his career in Community Pharmacy. In 2009 his focus changed to Managed Care. Currently his work focuses on driving solutions with providers as they increase quality and decrease total cost of care. His dedication to the profession is demonstrated through activity in NCAP, PQA and AMCP. He educates future pharmacists on Managed Care and specifically on quality measures. 

 

Megha ParikhMegha Parikh, PhD, MS
Senior Research Scientist, PQA
Megha Parikh, PhD, MS, is a Senior Research Scientist for PQA, providing expertise and support for research projects that advance the quality of medication use. She provides technical support and assists in the development, execution and dissemination of PQA’s research studies. Megha brings to PQA a strong methodological and quantitative background, as well as expertise in health outcomes research and health policy. Megha received her PhD in Health Services Research from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and MS degree in Biostatistics from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill.

 

Binal Patel

Binal Patel joined PerformRx Clinical Outcomes & Therapeutic Optimization department in 2013. Her experience in pharmacy spans multiple settings including hospital, retail and long-term care. Binal uses her expertise in medication therapy management to develop programs that optimize medication regimens, improve outcomes, and increase quality scores. She trains the next generation of pharmacists through PerformRx Residency, APPE and IPPE Programs and is a member of PerformRx Clinical Services Advisory Team. She has a Master of Pharmacy degree from University College London, School of Pharmacy.

 

Debbie Pestka

Debbie Pestka, PharmD, PhD
Research Scientist, University of Minnesota
Debbie Pestka is a pharmacist and learning health systems researcher at the University of Minnesota, where she also received her PharmD and PhD. As a researcher in the University’s Center for Learning Health System Sciences, Dr. Pestka’s research focuses on addressing research questions generated from practice and implementing the findings into routine care to continuously refine and improve health care delivery and outcomes. In addition, Dr. Pestka continues to work as a pharmacist in the community pharmacy setting.

 

 

Nicole PezzinoNicole Pezzino, PharmD, BCACP, CDCES
Director of Community Outreach & Innovation, Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice, Wilkes University 
Nicole Pezzino is a faculty member from Wilkes University who is a tireless advocate for community pharmacy and the role clinical services play in that patient care setting. She is a board-certified pharmacist in ambulatory care and a Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist who consistently challenges the status quo of pharmacy. Dr. Pezzino’s clinical responsibilities at her community practice site, Weis Markets, involve the implementation of various clinical services and serving as the PGY-1 Community Pharmacy Program Director. Her clinical focus includes employee wellness and disease state management- specifically with diabetes management, wellness and preventative care services, immunizations and medication management services.

 

 

Patricia PowersPatricia Powers, PharmD, BCPS

Patricia (Patti) Powers is the Director of Clinical Services at Mosaic Pharmacy Service, the technology-enabled pharmacy services subsidiary of RxAnte.  At Mosaic, Patti leads the clinical pharmacy team and supports the development of the company's Therapeutic Decision Support software. Patti has 25 years of experience developing clinical pharmacy programs and services.  She is Board Certified in Pharmacotherapy and was previously at Kaiser Permanente Mid-Atlantic States.

Casey Ross is currently the Clinical Operations Manager of Southern Ohio Medical Center's Specialty Pharmacy and Residency Program Director for the sites PGY-1 Community Based Residency Program. Casey's responsibilities include overseeing the day-to-day clinical operations and managing the performance of Southern Ohio Medical Center's specialty pharmacists and pharmacy liaisons, who currently support 15 outpatient clinics. Previously Casey was a specialty pharmacist for the health system and a clinical pharmacist in Internal Medicine at Marshall Health.

 

Kristi RudkinKristi Rudkin, PharmD
Director, Clinical Partnership Development, Walgreens 
Dr. Kristi Rudkin currently leads a team responsible for creating and refining an integrated offering of solutions that drives key areas of innovation in clinical or value-based care arrangements. This includes new offerings and new partnerships to drive pay for performance contract results across all payer segments (Medicare, Medicaid and Commercial). She has more than 30 years of pharmacy experience including 10 years of product development and 5 years of contracting experience. Dr. Rudkin holds a doctorate of pharmacy degree from University of Illinois at Chicago. She is also a certified immunizer and is a member of the American Pharmacists Association.

Kim Russo is a co-founder and SVP of Clinical Services at Aspen RxHealth. She is accountable for the quality of clinical consultations; clinical content for patients, pharmacists, and prescribers; and development and maintenance of clinical alerts for the populations that the company manages, including but not limited to MAPD, PDP, and Medicaid. Kim plays an active role in client implementations, compliance, clinical operations, product development, and customer service. Previously Kim was the Chief Clinical Officer at VUCA Health and was a clinical coordinator for pharmacy services at a large community hospital for 13 years.

James G. Scott is President & CEO of Applied Policy. He founded the company in 2009 from a desire to apply his in-depth knowledge of federal health policy to help healthcare providers and companies succeed in improving the lives of the patients they serve. Prior to founding Applied Policy, Mr. Scott served at the U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, advising the CMS Administrator on congressional intent in implementing the Medicare Modernization Act and launching the Medicare Part D prescription drug benefit. Prior to his service with CMS, Mr. Scott worked in the Office of the Legislative Counsel of the U.S. Senate, where he was a principal drafter of the Medicare Modernization Act and other Medicare legislation.

Spenser Smith graduated from the University of North Carolina Eshelman School of Pharmacy. After graduation he completed the PGY1 Pharmacy Managed Care Residency Program at Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina. He currently works at BCBSNC as a Clinical Pharmacist working with the Provider Engagement team to help provider groups improve quality and contain costs within the Blue Premier Value-Based Care program.

Research Scientist, PQA
DeBran Tarver, PhD, MPH, is a Qualitative Research Analyst for PQA, providing expertise and support for research projects that advance the quality of medication use. She supports the development, execution and dissemination of PQA’s research studies, including the identification of research topics needed to improve SDOH screening and response in community pharmacies, and the development of a patient-reported comprehensive medication review experience questionnaire. DeBran has over 11 years of experience as an evaluator, project manager, and researcher. DeBran received her PhD in Community Health and Human Services from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and her MPH from Morehouse School of Medicine.

Andrew is a pharmacist with residency training in clinical pharmacy practice and health system pharmacy administration. Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer, American Society of Consultant Pharmacists
Chad Worz is the chief executive of the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists (ASCP) and a board certified geriatric pharmacist. A board certified geriatric pharmacist and graduate of the University of Cincinnati College of Pharmacy, Worz’s career has focused on the medication management of older adults. Worz developed an innovative clinical practice in a long-term care setting in Ohio and directed the pharmacy practice of a regional, independent pharmacy serving 10,000 long-term care residents. Worz established a nation-wide, geriatric-based pharmacist consulting company to educate and serve nursing facility residents, nursing facility administration, long-term care pharmacies, and the public through a comprehensive knowledge of medication use. He is a national thought leader in geriatrics, long term care pharmacy and medication related topics and has served on a number of national boards related to pharmacy and medication utilization.
